Our adjustable beds are priced without VAT where applicable, and our friendly, trained staff are on hand to help you complete the necessary VAT exemption form. VAT exemption can seem confusing, but we are happy to guide you through the process. In simple terms, if an adjustable bed assists with a long-term or permanent disability, you are likely to be eligible for zero-rated VAT. No doctor’s letter or disabled badge is required.

If you would like an adjustable bed purely for comfort or luxury reasons and do not have a qualifying condition, you are still very welcome to purchase one. In this case, VAT would be added at the current rate.

Adjustable beds offer independent movement at both the head end and foot end. This can be particularly beneficial if you find it difficult to sit up, need your legs elevated, or require additional support for comfort. Conditions such as acid reflux, sciatica, leg swelling, and even snoring may also be helped. Each bed is supplied with a simple handset that is extremely easy to use.

Sterling Beds offer both standard-height and low adjustable bases, available in a range of popular fabrics. Matching headboards are also available.

Mattresses for adjustable bases are specially designed to work with the movement of the bed, as standard mattresses are not suitable. Sterling Beds offer a wide choice of adjustable mattresses in different comfort tensions, including natural or gel fillings, as well as pocket-sprung or non-spring foam options. All mattresses are supplied with a five-year peace-of-mind guarantee.

All Adjust-a-Rest mattresses and bases are 6’6” (200cm) long. Please note that standard 2’6”, 3’0", and 4’6” fitted sheets are usually too short. However, fitted sheets for the longer length are readily available.

Your adjustable bed will be delivered by a two-person delivery team who will place it in your room of choice, set everything up for you, and ensure it is fully operational. We can also remove and dispose of your existing bed for a small charge. Sterling Beds hold a registered business waste licence, which is required by law for bed disposal.
