It is very useful to have a spare place for guests to sleep in and while guest bedrooms with their own beds are a great idea, there is a lot to be said for getting a futon or sofa bed. By day, it is a normal piece of living room furniture, but by night, simply open it out and there's a perfectly good bed for sleeping in. They save space and do not require any backbreaking labour to open up when you have overnight guests. You will certainly want your guests to sleep well - according to the Sleep Research Centre at Loughborough University, we need about seven hours a night to be on our best performance and it would certainly be satisfying to have your visitors raving about the excellent rest they had while staying with you. The industry standard sofabed is a model that involves a three-fold metal frame with legs that you pull down to rest on the floor, with a mattress base. Leather adds a touch of class to any item of furniture and a sofa bed is no different. Other popular futons or sofabeds have metal, wooden and upholstered frames. They may tend, from their structure, to use the simpler \"click clack\" system for unfolding into beds. Rather than have legs to pull down, you move the backrest until you hear it click out of place, then move it down flat until it clacks into the new position.
